Meditation over Medication

Most of us tend to take medication because we were taught to do so. It's easy, it's fast and we feel a difference mostly right after taking it. What we all don't know, is that meditation is more effective, and of course, better for our body than taking any medication.

The physical and mental benefits of meditation practice are too extensive to list, as they are numerous and immensely varied, but just to name a few:

  • less chronic pain

  • lower blood pressure

  • lower blood sugar levels

  • lower cortisol

  • new neuronal pathways in the brain

  • less anxiety and depression

  • less stress

  • better sleep

There is a growing body of data that shows how practicing meditation and mindfulness can be a powerful and effective treatment for anxiety, depression and chronic pain. And even as effective as antidepressants.

Practicing meditation makes you more able to differentiate between the physical sensations in the body and the thoughts about sensations, the memories around pain or resentment around pain or anxiety.

NOTE: Medication provides relief for many and the integrative approach to mental health supports both in conjunction.
